Capture with Pan

Instant Demo has a special Capture with Pan feature which allows you to pan a Selected Area across your entire desktop.  This feature allows you to produce a demonstration with a window view onto your desktop, resulting in a high quality movie that can be displayed on systems with a smaller desktop resolution.  This option is available with the Selected Area mode of capture.  During recording, if you move the mouse towards the edge of the selected area, then Instant Demo will automatically move the selected area to follow your mouse movements.  Instant Demo also uses a smart capture technology to ensure the final Flash movie is comparable in size to a 'fixed position' screen recording.

Zoom and Pan is also available in the Instant Demo editor.

Tips on using the Pan feature:

Instant Demo moves the selected area in a smooth and controlled manner, providing a professional pan effect for your captured movies.  As such it is possible to move the mouse faster than the pan motion during recording, with the mouse moving outside the selected area.  To avoid confusion for your viewers, we recommend you move the mouse in a steady manner when panning, using the movement of the pan window as a guide.  Ideally the mouse should never leave the screen capture area whilst panning.  It is suggested that you perform a few practice recordings to familiarize yourself with the motion and 'feel' of the panning process.

If the selection rectangle is appearing in your captured video, then you may wish to hide it altogether by checking the Hide Pan Rectangle Advanced Option.
